In this guide, I will go over every boss fight in the Blackwing Lair, mentioning everything that is important to complete them.

While I will try to keep it as short as possible, some boss guides are quite complex, so this one is a bit longer. It is also advisable to bring plenty of consumables and some Fire Resistance gear. To keep this Blackwing Lair Guide as shortas possible, I will only go over these abilities once. Please note that all three of the dragons have these abilities, in addition to the unique mechanics listed for each one! Every week, Chromaggus will use 2 of the 5 breath abilities listed below.

The very first thing you will see when you enter Blackwing Lair is the Egg Chamber. To progress beyond this room, you must first defeat Razorgore.

The raid should be well equipped with MC gear at least. The main damage from Razorgore is fire damage, thus the tanks should balance their gear well - they do need some FR but not all-out FR gear, because this impairs their ability to kite. Other raid members can also benefit from FR gear esp.

This encounter consists of three phases: During Phase 1 the orcish orb controller, Grethok the Controllerand his two guards are dealt with. On the pull a timer starts, at the end of which adds will start to spawn phase 2. If the controller and his guards are dead before the timer expires, the raid will have a short phase out of combat at the end of phase 1. The Orb of Domination should be used right away to control Razorgore, else he will attack the raid.

The controlled Razorgore is used to destroy all the eggs in the room. In Phase 2, adds spawn in the rooms corners until 40 orcs melee and mage types combined and 12 dragonkin are there. If some adds are killed, new ones will spawn to replace them. This phase ends when all the eggs in the room are destroyed, at that point all adds despawn and Razorgore is reset to full health.

The objective of Phase 3 is to kill Razorgore. Hopefully enough of the raid survived phase 2 to bring him down This is a quick and dirty fight. Aggroing this mob also aggroes Razorgore, so this phase needs to be completed as quickly as possible. The controller has a mind control ability, so kill him first. CCing his guards is not a good idea because it takes too much time; better tank them, some raids even use AoE.

A large room filled with eggs separates the right platform, on which the boss can be found, and the left platform, which holds three orcs around an orb. A tank must use the orb to Mind Control the boss for this entire phase.

The boss uses a multitude of different spells to defend itself FireballCleaveWar Stomp and to destroy the eggs Warming Flames. Melee classes should stay behind the boss whereas off-tanks should position themselves on the flank of the boss to pick up the aggro as soon as the tank with the highest threat is hit by Conflagration. Razorgore can't be taunted, so give your tanks plenty of time to build threat to avoid pulling aggro and wiping your entire raid.

That player will then need to run around the room, using Razorgore's abilities to destroy the many dragon eggs around the room.

This phase will end when all of the eggs have been destroyed. You will want to have a tank control Razorgore, since the person controlling Razorgore will be his first target once the mind control link is broken. While the tank is running Razorgore around and destroying his eggs, the rest of the raid will need to protect Razorgore as swarms of orcs and dragonkin will come to attack Razorgore to stop him from killing the eggs.

If Razorgore is killed before all of the eggs are destroyed, he will then enrage, instantly wiping your group.

You will want to spread out your melee DPS and tanks to the corners of the room, placing them at each spawn point where adds can come into the room. You should have no problems killing the waves of adds, with ranged DPS and healers more towards the center of the room, rotating as needed to help the groups of melee.

Ranged specifically should be on the lookout for the larger dragonkin adds that spawn, as they require more focused DPS. As a general order, always prioritize the dragonkin, then the mages, and then the melee adds. After a few minutes of killing adds and using Razorgore to destroy his eggs, the room should be almost clear. When there are one or two eggs left, the entire raid should run to the same corner of the room where there are pillars that you can LoS behind.

The tank controlling Razorgore should then destroy the last few eggs, which will cause the mind control link from the orb to break, and Razorgore will run to attack the tank that was controlling him. This tank should jump down and hold Razorgore towards the middle, but within range of the pillars that the group is hiding behind.

Once your tank has built sufficient threat, the raid can begin to attack. From this point on, there are only two main mechanics to watch out for: threat and Fireball Volley. Razorgore will occasionally use a high damage Fireball Volley, which will shoot a Fireball at every person in line of sight. Before he casts this, everyone in the raid besides the tanks should run out of LoS behind one of the pillars, dodging the cast.
